Hi all, I've just had a Rusty Blackbird at the LA River adjacent to Bette Davis Park, Burbank. Head west along the river path until the confluence which is marked by maintenance eqpt./vehicles and a large yellow bin. The bird was in the river with some Brewer's. Seemed super skittish and was hard to get close for photos but have crudely transferred some from my camera to phone to get on my eBird checklist below. At one point, the bird flew off strongly to the west and dropped down in to the neighborhood but it did eventually come back to the river: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S41800859 By the way, the habitat here is practically gone. It makes it very easy to sort through all the ducks as there are limited hiding places now but seems a shame. Other than the continuing Eurasian Green-winged Teal, some fine Hooded Mergansers, nice numbers of both teals, nothing out of the ordinary. Best, Andy Birch Los Feliz
