    This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for March 9.
    
    The TUNDRA SWAN at the Piute Ponds (usually on the Ducks Unlimited Pond, but it does move around the area) on Edwards AFB continued through March 8. A letter of permission is required for entry.
    
    The RED-NECKED GREBE at Castaic Lagoon was reported through March 5. An INCA DOVE continued at Col. Leon H. Washintgon Park in Los Angeles through March 5.
    
    A COMMON GROUND-DOVE was along the San Gabriel River in Cerritos between Alondra and the 91 Freeway on March 4.
    Up to three more were at the east end of Trabuco Street in Bellflower on March 8 (south of the horse exercise area).
    
    An injured or sick BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE was at Dockweiler State Beach in El Segundo on March 3.
    I was later found deceased.
    
    Two BLACK SCOTERS were off Dockweiler the same day.
    
    A NEOTROPIC CORMORANT continued at Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas through March4.
    It has been on the north side of the lake, usually on the docks or buoys.
     The EASTERN PHOEBE at Madrona Marsh inTorrance was reported through March 6 near the "Chevron corner" (the area of the preserve opposite the Chevrongas station, corner of Sepulveda and Madrona).
    A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER continued here through March 3. Official Preserve hours are 10-5 Tuesday through Sunday, but access can often be had outside those hours.
    
    The DUSKY-CAPPED FLYCATCHER at La Mirada Creek Park continued through March 8.
     ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHERS were at Madrona Marsh in Torrance, at Dennis the Menace Park in Downey and at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve on March 8.
    
    A TROPICAL KINGBIRD continued at Entradero Park in Torrance continued through March 8 around the pond and in the northwest corner of the park.
    
    A CASSIN’S VIREO (likely a continuing bird) was at the Village Green Condominiums in Los Angeles on March 4 (on the south side of the central lawn area).
    
    A PACIFIC WREN continued in Big Santa Anita Canyon above Arcadia through March 4.
    
    Away from expected areas was a CALIFORNIA GNATCATCHER along the San Gabriel River near the railroad crossing between Beverly and Whittier on March 4.
    
    Two ORCHARD ORIOLES- a male and a female- continued at Loyola Marymount University in Westchester through March 3.
    They were by the southeast corner of the dorms on the northeast part of the campus.
    Look for a sand volleyball court that is in this same area (check the two pink flowering eucalyptus trees).
     The RUSTY BLACKBIRD continued around the lower pond at Almansor Park in Alhambra through March 2.
    
    The BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER at El Segundo Recreation Park continued through March4 in pines by the entrance to the parking lot at the corner of Pine Ave and Guaymas Way.
    
    A probable MACGILLIVRAY’S WARBLER was found at Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park in Harbor City on March 5 and seen again on March 6.
    It was in the southeast part of the park just before the dam.
    
    A female AMERICAN REDSTART continued at Vernon Hemingway Park in Carson through March 7. It has been in trees along the eastern fence, about 100 yards south of the parking lot.
    
    Another female AMERICAN REDSTART at El Dorado Park in Long Beach through March 7. Entering from Studebaker (north of Willow), park in the lot behind the softball fields. The bird has been in eucalyptus trees and shrubs around the west
    side maintenance yard next to the golf course.
    
    The PALM WARBLER at DeForest Park in Long Beach was reported through March 3 around the tennis courts.
    
    The PAINTED REDSTART at Culver City Park continued through March 3. Its usual spot is between Botts Field and the Culver Little League Field, mostly in the palms and eucalyptus above the four dumpsters.
    
    A female SUMMER TANAGER was at the LA County Arboretum in Arcadia from March 4-6.
    It was along the main path heading north from the Peacock Café, north of the Madagascar Spiny Forest in Weeping Bottle Brush.
    A presumably continuing bird was a GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE at the north end of the Water Conservation Garden through March 6.
    
    Another SUMMER TANAGER continued at DeForest Park in Long Beach through March 8.
    It was last seen in a sycamore near by the office/administration building.
